Pocket Gaiden is one of the most original GBA ROM hacks available — a fully story-driven adventure built on Pokemon Emerald that ditches the standard trainer-journey template entirely. You play as Pulp, a berry farmer in an unnamed China-inspired region who just wants to move his business to Honzhu City. His truck is broken, resources are tight, and the path ahead runs through dense wilderness and enigmatic Color Ruins where even basic supplies like Poké Balls are rare and valuable.

Frequently Asked Questions — Pocket Gaiden
Is Pocket Gaiden a standard Pokemon game?
No — it has a completely original story following a berry farmer named Pulp trying to relocate his business. The setting, tone, and design philosophy are unlike any standard Pokemon game.
What is the Smoothie System?
It replaces Pokéblocks from vanilla Emerald. Blend three berries to craft smoothies that restore HP, provide stat boosts, or create type-based battle shields during fights. NPCs also trade smoothies for evolution stones.
What is the Dark Tournament?
A 16-trainer 3v3 bracket competition added in v2.0. It's one of the main challenge events in the game and tests your team under sustained battle pressure.
Is Pocket Gaiden complete?
Yes — version 2.0 is a fully completed release.
