Pearl's version exclusives are irrelevant in extreme mode since typings are reassigned regardless. The same deep Sinnoh world — 16 routes, multiple caves, the Great Marsh — with every mechanical rule rewritten across three seeds.

Pearl's Great Marsh safari area provides a unique encounter method in extreme mode — the Pokémon visible through the Marsh's binoculars have extreme-randomized type identities, and the toss-item encounter mechanic still applies to whatever Pokémon appear. Pearl's version exclusives like Glameow and Bonsly have random typings in extreme mode, losing any resemblance to their original identities.
