Pokémon Ruby's Extreme Randomizer shuffles Hoenn's 386-Pokémon pool at every level — typings, evolutions, level-up moves, and wild encounters. Hoenn Gym Leaders known for Weather-based strategies lose their identity entirely when their Pokémon have randomized types. Route 110 through Mt. Chimney — already packed with encounters — becomes genuinely chaotic in extreme mode.

Hoenn's weather-based mechanics still trigger in extreme mode, but the Pokémon in Rain Dance or Sunny Day conditions have extreme-randomized typings that don't interact with those conditions as expected. Team Aqua and Magma, each themed around a single element, field teams with completely scrambled type identities in extreme mode — their identity ceases to make sense.
